A stat chart (statistics chart) is a simple but effective way to present a single data point, like a percentage or numeric value, paired with a visual cue such as icons, a donut, half-donut, progress bar, etc. With Venngage, you can add stat charts that are both visually engaging and accessible.

Add a Stat Chart to Your Canvas

  1. Create an accessible template in the upgraded Editor.

  2. From the left toolbar, select Charts.

  3. Scroll down to the Stat section.

  4. Choose from:

    • Donut Stat

    • Donut

    • Half-donut Stat

    • Half-Donut

    • Progress Bar Stat

    • Progress Bar

    • Icon stat

    • Icon

  5. Click on a chart type to add it to your canvas.

  6. Resize or reposition it using the bounding box controls.

Edit Chart Values

  • Value: Select the chart value and type your percentage or number in the Value field.

  • Total Items (Icon & Icon Stat): Adjust the number of icons to scale your percentage. For example, 63% can display as 50 icons or just 4 icons, depending on your design needs.

Customize the Chart

  • Colors

    • Use your Brand Kit, Project colors, or custom colors.

    • Fill Color 1 always represents the value portion.

    • The bottom of the widget will indicate whether your color choices meet contrast standards

  • Fonts

    • Font Color: Change the color of the text separately from the rest of the chart using the Font Color option.

    • Font Family: Select a different font style from the drop-down menu.

    • Font Size: Use the + and buttons, or type a number into the text size field to adjust the size.

👉 For Donut and Half-donut charts, the font size scales automatically when resizing the chart with the bounding box.

    • Font Style: Apply Bold, Italic, or Underline to emphasize the text.

  • Icons (Icon Stat Charts only)

    • Double-click icons or click Replace.

    • Search or browse for mono-color icons to swap in (e.g., diplomas, checkmarks, stars).

Chart Style Options

Different stat charts have unique customization tools. Here’s a breakdown:

Spacing

  • Available for: Icon & Icon Stat

  • Adjust gaps between icons in Icon Stat charts by resizing or using spacing controls.

  • Vertical Spacing - controls the space between the bar and the number text. Only available for Progress Bar Stat.

Corner Rounding

  • Available for: Donut, Half-Donut, Progress Bar & Progress Bar Stat

  • Toggle between straight or rounded edges for a sharp or soft look.

Bar Height

  • Available for: Progress Bar & Progress Bar Stat

  • Use the slider to increase or decrease the thickness of the progress bar.

Donut Hole

  • Available for: Donut, Half-Donut, Donut Stat & Half-Donut Stat

  • Change the width of the ring by adjusting the donut hole size.

Add Alt Text to your Chart

Describe stat charts that appear on your design canvas to users with visual impairments or readers with other accessibility needs.

  1. Select the chart.

  2. In the top toolbar, click Alt Text.

  3. Add a short description of what the chart shows, including both the statistic and the visual layout.

Examples:

  • “An icon stat chart showing 63%. 63% of the icons are green diploma caps, the remaining 37% are red.”

  • “A stat half-donut chart with the value 55%. The first half of the donut is dark purple (55%), the remainder is light purple.”

  • “A progress bar chart at 90%. The bar is mostly red, with pale pink on the far left end.”

Changing the Stat Chart Type

To switch between different stat chart styles:

  1. Select your stat chart on the canvas.

  2. In the top toolbar, go to the Chart Type dropdown menu (next to the Value field).

  3. Click the dropdown and choose your preferred chart type (e.g., Donut Stat Chart, Progress Bar, Icon Stat).

This lets you quickly change how your data is displayed without starting from scratch.
