Easily customize your images in Venngage using Crop, Crop Shapes, and Opacity tools. These features let you trim images, apply creative shape masks, and adjust transparency, giving you full control over how your visuals look while keeping your design polished and professional.

Add a Photo

  • Upload your own image or choose one from the image library.

  • Place it onto your design canvas.

Crop an Image

  1. Select the image on the canvas.

  2. Click Crop in the top toolbar. The canvas will darken, highlighting the visible crop area.

  3. Resize the crop area by dragging the corners of the bounding box (you can’t expand beyond the original image size).

  4. Reposition the image within the crop area by clicking and dragging, or using the arrow keys.

  5. Any part of the image that appears darkened will be cropped out once you confirm.

While in crop mode, you can also resize the image itself to change how it appears in the focal area.

Click anywhere outside the image or press Esc to confirm.

Crop an Image into a Shape

  1. Select the image on the canvas.

  2. Click Crop Shape in the top toolbar or double-click on the image.

  3. The right panel will open, showing crop shape options. You can:

    • Choose basic shapes like square and circle.

    • Explore abstract shapes like blobs.

    • Try grid shapes, which divide one image into multiple shapes but keep them as a single image.

  4. Once applied, the image will instantly appear in the selected shape.

  5. The top toolbar will always display the current crop shape for quick reference.

You can further adjust the image’s position within the shape by dragging it horizontally or vertically, or resize while keeping proportions by adjusting the bounding box.

Change Image Opacity

  1. Select the image.

  2. In the top toolbar, click Opacity.

  3. Use the slider or type a percentage to make the image more or less transparent.

Lower opacity allows background elements to show through, creating stylistic effects.

Replacing Images

You can quickly swap out an image while keeping the same crop or crop shape.

  • Double-click on a cropped image to bring up the Image Replace menu.

  • Choose a new image from your uploads, the image library, or search results.

  • The new image will automatically replace the selected one with the same crop or crop shape applied.

Add Alt Text to Images

For accessibility, non-decorative images (those that convey important meaning) should have alternative text so screen readers can describe them.

  • Select the image, then click Alt Text in the top toolbar, or use the ALT icon in the top-right corner of the image.

  • Enter a description in the Description field or use the Auto-generate alt text button.

For decorative images, mark them as decorative:

  • Select the image, click Alt Text, and check Mark as Decorative.

✨ With these tools, you can crop, shape, resize, and style your images, while also ensuring they’re accessible to all audiences.
