Accessing the Background Tool
Make sure no items on your canvas are selected. To do this:
Click anywhere outside the canvas in the gray area, or
Click directly on the background of your design.
This reveals the Background tool in the top toolbar, where you can customize the look of your design canvas.
Background Options
Venngage gives you four main options when customizing your background:
Project Colors – Quickly access any colors you’ve already swatched from your design.
Brand Kit (available on paid subscriptions) – Choose from your saved brand colors for consistent, on-brand designs.
Gradients – Select from a variety of pre-generated gradients to add depth and visual interest.
Patterns – Apply patterns to overlay on your chosen color or gradient, or combine with a background image for unique effects.
Add a Brand or Swatch Color
To apply a brand color: Click the Background Color tool and select a color from the Brand Kit section.
To apply colors across the entire design: Go to My Brand Kit in the left toolbar and click Shuffle to apply your brand palette automatically.
Add a Gradient

Open the Gradients section under Background.
Click on a gradient tile to instantly apply it to your canvas background.
Add a Pattern
Patterns can be used:
On their own,
Overlaid with a color or gradient, or
-
Combined with a low-opacity background photo for layered effects.
