Customizing Bar Chart Appearance

A bar chart is a type of graph that uses horizontal bars to compare different categories or groups.

Each bar represents a category, and the length of the bar shows the value or amount — the longer the bar, the higher the value.

Bar charts are great for showing comparisons, like sales by region, number of tasks completed per person, or survey results.

 

Open the Edit Chart Panel

  • Click Edit Chart in the top toolbar to open the Edit Chart panel.


    Or, Double-click the chart on your canvas or click the Edit Chart icon on top of the chart.


Edit Chart Menu Features

Each Edit Chart menu section allows you to customize a section of your chart.

Data:

  • Category names
  • Value numbers

Data can be edited by clicking a cell and manually entering, or copying and pasting from an external source. You can use your keyboard shortcuts (Command-V on Mac and Ctrl + V on PC) to paste data into the cells.

You can also import a CSV or XLSX file by clicking the Browse Files button.

 

Setup:

  • Chart Style (Colors)

    • Customize the bar colors to match your theme or brand.

  • Grid Lines

    • Show or hide grid lines for easier readability.

  • Axes

    • Adjust axis formatting, scale, and labels.

  • Labels

    • Turn data labels on or off, or adjust their position.

  • Legend

    • Show, hide, or reposition the chart legend.

Changing the Chart Type

You can now change your chart type directly in the Edit Chart panel using the Chart Swap feature.
