The Copy & Paste Styles tool allows you to transfer a smart item's style onto other smart items with one click. You can choose to copy a smart item's style onto other smart items, its child items, or its sibling items.

To copy and paste the smart item's background color

1. Click a smart item.

2. Click the Background icon on the top toolbar.

3. Choose the color you want the icon to be on the color palette.

4. Click anywhere else on screen.

5. Click the smart item again.

6. Click the Copy Styles icon on the top toolbar.

7. Click another item that you want to paste the color on.

8. Click the Paste Styles icon again to paste the color.

Copy and paste options

The Copy & Paste Styles drop-down opens a menu of style application options: Apply to all, Apply to child nodes, and Apply to sibling nodes.

• These options can all be used without having to copy any specific element first - only a valid selection is required.

• The "Apply to all" option takes the selected style and applies it to all items within a list or diagram.

• The "Apply to child nodes" is Smart diagram-only, and applies the selected style down to any nodes “down” a branch on the diagram tree.

• The "Apply to sibling nodes" is Smart diagram-only, and applies the selected style “across” the branches of the tree, but leaves any further items down the branch unaffected.

• Some or all of these options may be grayed out on invalid selection.

Copy and paste the border style

1. Click a smart item.

2. Click the Border color and style icon on the top toolbar.

3. Choose the color you want the item's border to be on the color palette. You can also adjust the width of the border.

4. Click anywhere else on screen.

5. Click the Copy & Paste Styles drop-down.

6. Select an option.

Note: items that cannot adopt the style are disabled upon selection and show a prohibited cursor when hovered.
